This European Regional Development Fund and Single Regeneration Budget funded project ran throughout 2003. The project was based in Immingham, North East Lincolnshire with the aim of working with the community to consider the built environment and how it could be improved.

The objective was to assist the community of Immingham in getting to a stage where it was equipped to take regeneration projects that they initiate further on their own. As a result of the project several new community groups focusing on particular issues have been formed and a number of already established groups being further development. The new groups focus on issues such as reclaiming neglected land and providing activities such as drama and arts for young people.

Using novel and innovative methods the project worked with a large number of established groups to help them recognise what could be done to improve their area and how they could be involved. Training sessions were held with several groups to improve their skills in community work.

The project also worked with many of the schools in Immingham, both primary and secondary and carried out activities which helped children and young people understand more about their local environment. The children from the secondary schools took part in field trips to look at derelict land in Immingham and produce ideas of how the land could be used by the community. The project focused on letting people develop their own ideas in ways which are realistic and in keeping with their surroundings.
