A pilot project delivered in North East Lincolnshire brought together elements of environmental advocacy and community economic development. Community Environmental Support was funded through European Regional Development Fund and the Single Regeneration Budget.
Clients included groups setting up and expanding community recycling initiatives. Recyclability, a not-for-profit company, created work opportunities for adults with learning difficulties through the recycling of textiles.
Some groups assisted wished to develop buildings for community use. These groups are advised on energy efficiency and waste minimisation when refurbishing and managing their buildings.
Some groups wished to make their communities more attractive and safe by improving open spaces and parks. Several groups were assisted with funding applications and the design of improvements to community green spaces.
