Community Issues in Planning

Under the new Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, Local Authorities must prepare a Statement of Community Involvement.

Environmental Assistance organised a conference with the sponsorship of CABE, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment.

Organiser's remarks: The conference highlighted the importance and need for training for both local authorities and communities. An understanding of the new planning system and the emphasis on meaningful community engagement is something which needs to be considered in more depth.
